Ständige Vertretung Berlin Die Ständige Vertretung is a restaurant in Berin-Mitte at Schiffbauerdamm (close to the west exit of die Friedrichstraße). It defines itself as a polit cult Lokal (political cult local).  It also claims to be not an ordinary restaurant but a political diary.

The name refers to the continual presence of the members of the government  of the former DDR in West Berlin (vertreten in German – means to stand in for (Verb), or as a noun – replacement). Due to the lack of official political relationship, there were no formal embassies, therefore the presence of the two governments took the form of the “Vertetung”.

The walls of the restaurant are decorated with the pictures of the famous German and international politicians such as Willi Brand, Helmut Schmidt or Leonid Iljitsch Breschnew.
